Jean Behra was one of France's greatest drivers of the 1950's, and was instantly recognizable by his distinctive chequered helmet. |
For 1951 the Monaco race - something of a shambles in 1950 with a multi-car pile-up - disappeared, but to take its place came two more events, the German and Spanish Grands Prix. This time Fangio won after a struggle with both Farina and new Ferrari star Alberto Ascari; the series was in doubt until the final round in Spain. |
